We have to start STRONG and finish STRONG. The end of the school year is a critical time for reflection, celebration, and preparation. When teens finish strong, they build confidence and momentum for the next stage. Teachers feel valued when their efforts are acknowledged, and parents gain insight into their child’s growth and next steps.
Here are a few suggested items for parents to help wrap up the school year successfully:
Have your teen transfer school files from their assigned school laptop/Chromebook to their email account or personal computer.
Request your teen’s transcript after the last day of school.
Add back-to-school dates to your calendar or phone reminders.
Have a recap meeting with your teen — ask about their favorite classes, teachers, academic goals, extracurriculars, grades, and post-high school plans.
Write a thank-you letter to a teacher who made a meaningful impact on your teen this year.
