Most people don’t realize this, but March is the Super Bowl of Scholarships. Think about it—most scholarship foundations plan to award funds by graduation or summer. At PreCollege Solutions, we see hundreds of scholarships with deadlines on March 15th, March 31st, and April 15th.


Where to Find Scholarships

One of the biggest questions we get is: "Where do I find scholarships?" The answer depends on the type of scholarship you're looking for because not all scholarships are created equally. Knowing what you qualify for can save you time and effort.


Part 1: Merit-Based & Local Scholarships

We recommend merit-based and local scholarships for students from higher-income families. What qualifies as a higher-income family? Typically, a household income of $65,000 or more.

  • Merit-based scholarships are awarded based on academics, athletics, or special skills.

  • Local scholarships come from organizations in your community, city, or state and often don’t consider financial need.


Part 2: Need-Based & Merit-Based Scholarships

For students with financial need, we recommend applying for both need-based and merit-based scholarships at the local and national levels.


  • Need-based scholarships consider household income as part of the selection process.
