PSAT, SAT, ACT, AP Exams 101

msshymika7

This February, we focus on All Things Test Prep and understanding the PSAT, SAT, ACT, CLEP, and College Remedial Test. The images above are how we teach our clients about the different standardized tests and their role in the college admission and scholarship process.

These tests have three things in common. The most important is minimizing student debt. "If you score well on these tests: universities and organizations will seek you out for academic recruitment and scholarships." We define scoring well as the top 10% of the test range. Also scoring well can exempt a student from taking college courses, reducing their time at college, and saving the student time and money.

Cost is another commonality for these tests. The ACT and SAT are only offered 7-8 during the year. The PSAT is offered twice. AP Exams are offered through school districts once a year. If a student takes all of these tests multiple times in a year, that could equal $300-$500.

The hidden common ground no one talks about is...these tests are teaching students how to study, time management, and academic rigor. One of the purposes of these tests is to prepare students for college. Test-taking is a part of growing in profession and skillset.

The big advice we give our clients is to have students take all of these tests EARLY! Talk to a professional such as PreCollege Solutions or a high school counselor to review the test scores and seek ways to improve test scores before senior year starts.

As promised, we will post All Thing Test Prep to provide more detail on winning with these tests on February 22, 2025, on our YouTube Channel.
